Frequently Asked Questions

Submit the volunteer form and our volunteer coordinator will get in touch with you. The great thing about volunteering at the art center is YOU can let us know when YOU want to volunteer. We have shifts in the morning, afternoon and evening; plus, we have shifts during the week and on the weekends. They are typically three hours long.

You bet! Distributing posters, helping with clerical tasks, making phone calls and preparing for an event are ways you can assist MCAC by volunteering an hour or two of your time.

MCAC has two active committees: the art center committee and the programming committee. These committees have several meetings each year and then spend a lot of time communicating via e-mail to finalize plans and details. On average, members spend about an hour or two each month on committee activities. This is a FUN way to get involved with MCAC! There are other committees that pop up from time to time (fundraisers, specific events, etc.). Let us know if you want to be added to that list.
An MCAC board member’s term starts in May and ends four years later in June. Board members spend at least eight hours per month working on MCAC activities and events. Because the board works closely together each month, you become good friends with your fellow board members. Although serving on the board is a commitment, it’s very rewarding. You’re part of a team who makes a difference in Marshall County. Send us a message, and we’ll get in touch.

ABSOLUTELY! We’ll add you to our list. We have a lot of volunteers who help us a couple of times a year -we really appreciate their help.

When we present events, we need ushers, ticket takers and greeters. If you want to volunteer at an event, it generally means you’ll arrive at least an hour before the event starts and stay until about 30 minutes after the event ends. We can always use an extra set of hands.

We always need assistance in the kitchen. MCAC hosts a lot of receptions and we’re always looking for people to bake a dessert, whip up an appetizer or provide refreshments. This is a way to support MCAC, but it doesn’t require a huge time commitment.

YES, we do! Sometimes we need people to pick up artists from the airport and sometimes we need people to chaperone artists as they travel around the county. This is a really fun volunteer opportunity that gives you direct contact with our visiting artists. Let us know if hospitality is your thing!
