Senior Saturday starts with a good breakfast and colorful company.
Those 55 and over are invited to the Lee Dam Center for Fine Art for biscuits and gravy, breakfast casseroles and breakfast sweets, followed by time with Bright Land, the current exhibit featuring Virgil Penner of Newton, Kansas.
Many know Penner for his detailed ink drawings of homes and buildings. This exhibit showcases his acrylic paintings instead—bright landscapes filled with color, imagination and a touch of whimsy.
Since retiring in 2009 as CEO of the Newton Chamber of Commerce, Penner has returned to painting and continues to explore new techniques and styles.
Good food, good conversation and an exhibit worth seeing.
