Since forming in 1996, The Sounds of Soul have headlined across the United States. Their act has been featured on the internationally syndicated television show “Dance Connection.”

Soul music originated in the late 1950s and early 1960s, blending elements of gospel, rhythm and blues and jazz. Known for its deep emotional expression, soul music is often characterized by its passionate vocal delivery and heartfelt lyrics, capturing the spirit of the African American experience.

Motown, one of the most influential soul music labels, produced a string of hits that became cultural milestones, shaping the sound of an era with artists like The Supremes, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

“We are thrilled to bring the Sounds of Soul to Marshall County,” said Hannah Schroller Simpson, vice president of the Marshall County Arts Cooperative. “This group brings the authentic energy and spirit of Motown, offering our community a unique opportunity to experience this music live.”
