Firemen’s Fall Fest Celebrates Eleven Years
The eleventh annual Firemen’s Fall Fest will be Saturday, October , on the square in Blue Rapids.
The event is sponsored by the Blue Rapids Fire Department and the Marshall County Arts Cooperative. Proceeds go toward the 4th of July fireworks display in Blue Rapids.
This year’s event includes elements from previous celebrations mixed with some new additions.
This year’s event will take place on the square in downtown Blue Rapids. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
The event starts at 4 p.m. with a beer garden.
The meal begins at 5 p.m. The meal includes brats, sides and tea. A freewill donation will be taken for the fish fry. The community center will be open for those wanting to eat indoors.
KJ Bowers will perform from 5:30-7:30 p.m. After spending a few years in Nashville, Tenn., Bowers moved to Beloit, Kan., his current home. As a singer-songwriter, Bowers plays original music mixed with hits from the 1970s through the 2000s.
Following his solo performance, Suzy and the Reckless will play from 8-11 p.m.
The group plays Americana, old-time country, red dirt and other pop and rock songs as well as a few originals. Band members are Katie Nordhus, vocals; Bryan Ruegge, rhythm guitar and vocals; Jerry Horton, lead guitar; Rick Lister, bass; Micah Kee, fiddle and mandolin; Anthony Gude, steel guitar and banjo; Ron Roepke, drums.
